Specialist EDI Midwife

Every family deserves maternity care and support that sees them as a whole person, with their own culture, language, faith, family and priorities.

I am a Specialist Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Midwife. My work is about making maternity systems safer and more equitable, and helping families and the people who support them navigate those systems with confidence.

I created this service because families told me the same things again and again: they did not feel listened to, they did not know what to ask, and the people supporting them often lacked the tools to help them be heard. Education, coaching and good support change that.

How I work

  • Culture is context, not a diagnosis. You are the expert on you.
  • Evidence first. My work follows NICE, RCOG and NHS England guidance.
  • Honest about scope. I provide non-clinical support and I will always tell you where my role ends.
  • Safety and respect travel together.
